(( Grrr...))
James continued to search for a girafarig, though he had had no previous luck. Aster was also searching, in another spot, though she made sure to stay close enough to her trainer, as not to get lost. James had Walter out, deciding that perhaps the pokédex had some information about the pokémon that would help. He listened as Walter explained different aspects on girafarig, as he kept an eye out for it.
"Girafarig is an herbivore, and enjoys eating grass and shrubs. Its rear head has a brain of its own, that..." The pokédex continued on and on, not really revealing any information that would be particularly useful in catching it. It then came to a point when it mimicked the call of a girafarig, before continuing in its spewing of random information. It took James a moment before he realized that he could use the call to his advantage.
He quickly went back to the call, and Walter emitted the cry once more. James wandered about, playing the call every so often while looking for the pokémon. He hoped the sound of a girafarig might cause a real girafarig to approach. At least, that was the plan. At hearing the call made by Walter, Aster got excited at the prospects of finding a girafarig and came running towards the sound. At seeing the source of the sound, Aster sighed and continued looking, staying closer to James.

Level 8 Girafarig Appeared! Your search paid off, however this Girafarig seemed to have a horrid attitude and a dislike of you, it's head-tail rushing towards you, attempting to bite your head off.

(( yay! ))
James blinked a few times when he saw the angry girafarig charging backwards at him. It was quite a sight to behold, that was for sure. Instead of running or diving out of the way, at the sight of this, he simply looked over to Aster, with fire in his eyes. "Alright, Aster! Get between us, and use Ingrain. When it gets closer, use Razor Leaf!" Aster was a bit reluctant to get in the path of this rampaging pokémon, but decided to trust James' judgment, and did so. She got between the two, closer to her trainer than the wild pokémon, and dug her roots into the ground.
This locked her in place, but allowed her to heal any wounds she would receive. Not much longer, the girafarig was bearing down on her, content to run her down as it charged at James. With only a couple of feet between them, Aster used Razor Leaf, sending a barrage of sharp leafs flying at the girafarig. This hit its target superbly, the girafarig now deciding to pay attention to the little leaf pokémon. Its smaller head made a scary face, and quickly bit Aster, effectively using Astonish attack. Aster was in such shock it couldn't move, and girafarig used this time to turn around and execute a Confusion attack on her. With control over Aster, it attempted to unroot her, though failed in its endeavors.
At this time, Aster had shaken away the shock of the strange attack and used another Razor Leaf on her foe. The pokémon tried to doge, but there were to many leafs for it to completely avoid taking damage, at the close proximity the two were standing. The girafarig took the hit, but decided to turn its attention back on James, who had no idea why it seemed so aggressive. Perhaps it was angry about the calls from the pokédex? He had no idea, but realized that this girafarig didn't like him at all. Catching this one would probably be a bad idea, since it hated him so much. Disappointed, he made a decision to simply knock it out.
It attempted a Tackle on him, but he was able to get out of the way in time. "Aster! Return!" The pokéball in his hand shot out the red bolt and drew the chikorita back in. He decided to switch to a heavier hitter, and one he knew could knock out a girafarig. "Go, Quin! Time to take this pokémon down!" James' zangoose emerged, having no qualms about the trainer's decision. "Use a couple of Quick Attacks!" The girafarig saw Quin, knowing she would pose a much greater threat than the small chikorita. Unfortunately, it turned too late and was hit by a series of Quick Attacks. Grunting and visibly weakened, it unleashed a Confusion attack, sending Quin reeling into a nearby tree.
"Zan!" After picking herself back up, Quin began charging the girafarig, using Quick Attacks to quickly zigzag her way to the pokémon. "Alright, Quin! Do your thing!" This pleased Quin greatly, allowing her to fight the girafarig however she wanted, rather than being stuck to specific orders. A final Quick Attack brought her within deadly range of her foe, and she used Brick Break to return the favor of being sent into a tree. The girafarig hit a tree and could barely stand back up. This gave Quin enough time to hit it with another Quick Attack, followed by a final Brick Break. Not even breaking a sweat, Quin cheered in triumph, as it was sure the girafarig would not be getting back up.

After the victory, James decided to head back into town. He would have other opportunities to catch pokémon, so he decided to give his pokémon a well-deserved rest. He was starting to get hungry, anyways, and so he decided to head to a restaurant after healing his team at the Pokémon Center. "Quin, return." After calling her back, James patted himself down to make sure he had everything, and started for Flint City. He saw a few wild pokémon here and there, but his stomach was being quite demanding.
A few minutes later, he was about to leave the route, when he started hearing some strong vibrations coming from his backpack. He cocked an eyebrow as he carefully removed his backpack. He set it down and opened it as he heard a cracking noise. Inside, he saw that the pokémon egg was starting to hatch, and a spindly, inset-like leg punched through. He gently removed the egg, as the baby pokémon continued to fight its way free. After a few minutes, the ground around James' feet was littered with egg shells, and he stood there looking at a spinarak.
The newly-hatched pokémon took a few seconds before opening its eyes, and looked inquisitively about. It finally noticed the trainer, and happily exclaimed. It wobbled a bit as it crawled up James arm, but finally made it onto his shoulder, where it proceeded to nuzzle James' cheek. "Spina! Spinarak!" It seemed as though it recognized James as... its mother? The trainer opened Walter and scanned the youth, learning what it was and other information. "A spinarak, huh? Hi there, little guy. Or girl...?"
James continued with his looking through the pokédex, and learned his spinarak was, indeed, a boy. Putting his pokédex away, he gently petted his new pokémon, who seemed to thoroughly enjoy the loving attention. "Well, then. We've got to give you a name, huh? Hmm..." He thought it over quite a bit, as the spinarak was content to simply cuddle with his neck. "Let's call you... Kalvin. Like it?" Kalvin made another happy exclamation of approval, and James let him stay on his shoulder, as he proceeded into Flint City.

(( Alright. Heading to Fairburn to trade with Ché. Gonna do some training on the way. )) While he healed his pokémon, James had seen a public notice on his PC, in Flint City's pokémon center. He decided to reply to the notice, about a pokémon trade. It had offered a psyduck, and he was able to negotiate the trade of Gaston. The grimer was a good pokémon, but James wasn't all too sure how to best train him, as he didn't know much about poison-type pokémon. He figured Gaston would be much better off in more capable hands than his, so he left Flint City and trekked through Route Two. His battle with the gym leader had taught him quite a bit about what he needed to do to grow stronger.Maybe this new pokémon would be a key factor in his growth as a trainer? He could only hope, and it wouldn't hurt to try. He had already explained his plans with Gaston, who didn't seem to mind to much. James thought it would be nice to give Gaston a bit more training, so he could give this other trainer a stronger pokémon. He went on and off the path, looking for battles as he made his way to Fairburn City. [RANDOM METHOD]

As he and Gaston walked through the route, James noticed a sleeping pokémon, on a nearby rock. He decided to let the pokémon sleep, and started creeping slowly past it. The sound of him and his grimer moving, however, was loud enough to awaken the slumbering poison-type. Agitated about having its nap interrupted, it quickly struck out to bite James. He deftly dove out of the way, and called upon Gaston to battle it. Content with taking out its frustration with anything, the snake pokémon zipped at Gaston, biting him with a Poison Sting.
Gaston simply chuckled in amusement at the wholly ineffective attack and used Harden. The sudden hardening of Gaston's skin caused the fangs to get stuck in him, and he was able to use Pound attack on the pokémon's head. The ekans attempted to wriggle free, but Gaston used Harden once more, causing the fangs even harder to try and loosen away. Instead, the ekans used Wrap, coiling itself tightly around Gaston. With his defense starting to weaken, he continued to Harden even more.
It seemed as if the two pokémon were at a stalemate, though Gaston used another Pound attack on the ekans' head, causing it even more damage. With such an advantage over his foe, Gaston refused to unharden, keeping the ekans trapped. At this point, James had already scanned the ekans with Walter, his pokédex. "Alright, Gaston! Start using Mud-slap!" Gaston happily agreed and scooped up some mud from the path, slapping it into the ekans eyes. At this, the ekans loosened its grip on Gaston, letting its body fall to the ground.
Another Mud-slap to its face weakened the poison-type even more, and Gaston wasn't giving up yet. Unfortunately, neither was the ekans, who used Wrap again. It was determined to win this battle, even with the odds horribly against it. The enraged ekans continued to try and pry its fangs out, finally managing to after a while. Before the ekans could escape, though, Gaston performed another Mud-slap, sending the already weakened ekans to the ground. With his foe barely able to move, Gaston went for the finish, using his entire body in one more Pound attack.

James was quite impressed at how easily his grimer was able to win the fight, and congratulated him on the extremely decisive victory. "Great work, Gaston. That was really awesome!" Gaston did a little dance as it cheered happily, not only at winning the battle but also at James' accolades. "Alright, little dude. Let's go do some more training, and keep heading to the city." With that, James and Gaston quickly continued their trek towards Route One.
