Starting Pokemon
But Amoretta’s life is very bland and boring, seeing as how she’s never actually done anything. So lets skip past that. Instead, lets start at when she was fifteen….
As stated before, Amoretta doesn't have much ambition. No real hopes or dreams, just to be taken care of. But there is a reason for that. Amoretta was never allowed to have a Pokemon as a pet, even though both her parents and grandparents were successful Trainers when they were young. They deemed her to be to young and irresponsible, so other outlets for creativity had to be found.
Painting, dancing, sports, cooking, academics- all were lost on her. Her parents always encouraged her and said that one day she would find her niche, but she eventually grew discouraged at her horrible attempts. One day, after nearly breaking her back attempting Gymnastics, she plopped down on the couch and began to watch the T.V.
On the show was a Stardom story about a girl who married a famous movie star. In the show, the girl was a dirt poor waitress who could barely make ends meat, but ne day she just so happened to wait a table of some mega millionair. It was love at first sight, and she ended up getting married to him and never had to lift a finger again.
In her already depressed and dissalusioned state, an idea struck Amoretta: she would Marry Up. Just like that woman on TV, she would marry a rich man. Then her parents would never have to worry about her, and she wouldn't have to go through the dissapoitments of failing at everything she tried to do.
And so she just... stopped. She let her grades slip in school, quit all of her extracurricular activities, and just lazed about all day and night. She stayed like this for some time without any intervention, her parents thinking it was just a phase she was going through. But after a few months, they grew worried and confered with the only person the knew they could trust: Amoretta's Grandmother.
She said that the problem with Amoretta was this: She just needed more responsibility in her life! So, as a gift, her grandmother gave her two Pokemon- A Meowth and a Skitty. The Meowth was very short tempered and didn't seem to like Amoretta much, so she avoided him the best she could. While the skitty was much more loving, he was too loving. All he wanted day and night was to sit in her lap and be petted. When she came home from school, he would jump her as she came through the door.
While these things irked her, her 'Failure' with the two Pokemon made her feel worse about herself than before. Pokemon was something her family was supposed to be good at, and she had even failed at that. Falling even deeper into her little pit of despair, her parents had inadvertently sealed the fate of their lazy daughter. From then on her mind was made up. Marrying up was the only solution in her mind.
But as time passed, her parents grew more and more and more worried about Amoretta. So they asked their parents yet again. It was a hard decision, but they decided the best thing to do for the girl would be to get her out of the house and out on her own. She would take Lyk, the Meowth, on a journey through a new and blossoming region. Basic essentials would be provided, and no one could help her. Most importantly, she wold not be allowed to come home until she earned all eight badges from the new regions Gym.
And so she was just... shipped off. Of course she moaned and whined and cried to stay, but it was unanimous. Either leave or we'll make you. And they made her. So now she's stuck in some strange place she's never heard of where she doesn't know anyone except a Meowth that hates her guts. Hooray for adventures.
