Scarlet optics peered in the clear waters, flicking back and forth in order to scan for any life that may have been lurking beneath the surface. Suddenly, a flash of ruby caught her attention. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a Staryu skimming just above the surface of the ocean. Adrenalin pulsed through her veins. She needed that pokemon. Searching the boat for anything she could use, her hands quickly clasped around a fishing rod.
The young woman had never used one before, but how hard could it be? After all, look at the types of people who made their living off of Fishing. Taking a few moments to study the mechanism, she reared back and pulled down on the trigger on the pole. Flicking the pole forward, she launched the line and lure from rod and into the sea, the small lead weight pulling the clear line into the ocean's embrace.
The hook on the line sunk down in front of her target, and the sharp barb hooked her target's body. "Haha! Gotcha!." However, before she was able to reel her catch in, the pokemon took off, speeding through the ocean, dragging Hotaru and her boat along with it. The amateur angler held on for dear life to the pole as the aquatic pokemon tried to escape. "Oh no you dont!" She yelled, giving a quick yank to pole in an attempt to wrangle in the uncooperative pokemon.
The staryu continued to pull the boat for several minutes, draining a considerable amount of it's energy in the process. Soon, it floated to the surface, the red jewel in its core flickering from exhaustion. "Hasami! Petal Dance!" A cloud of pink petals was expelled from the bulb on her back, which twisted and collided with the Staryu.
Tossing a pokeball from her belt at the Staryu, it quickly became engulfed in a flash of white light. The sphere began to sink into the ocean, wiggling as a few bubbles escaped from it's clutches. [/blockquote]

The pokeball floated back up to the surface and was gathered by Hotaru, who decided it was time to leave the area and return the boat. She had a weapon to fight against the types who were strong against Grass types, and night was falling on the beach.
Tying the boat to back on the pier, Hasami and her made their way down the path and towards the town.

[To Route 01]
With her pokemon in good health and a spring in her step, the new trainer stepped out onto the dirt worn path, only to be encountered by a small boy. After a few taunts, he had engaged Hotaru in a battle, with each side wagering 500¥ on their battle. Moving to about 5 meters away from her opponent, their match would begin.
Name: Josh
Pokemon:
- Ratatta [ Level 5 ]
- Ratatta [ Level 5 ]
[/ul][/ul] Reward Money: 500[/blockquote] Battle Start! Delicate fingers curled around a Pokeball on her belt, which expanded to the size of a baseball in her palm. "Ii koi yo Hasami!" Hurling the sphere high into the air, the ball split open, releasing a burst of liquid white light that plummeted to the earth. At first, the light lacked a defined shape. However, the bright glow quickly faded, revealing the form of a small Bulbasaur as the ball flew back into Hotaru's grip. On the other side, her opponent revealed a Rattata. Extending her finger, she pointed right at the Rattata while shouting a command. "Taiatari!" On her encrypted command, the Bulbasaur raced forward, attempting to tackle her opponent with her full weight. However, the opposing trainer was able to order his pokemon while the grass type charged. "Rat! Use Tail Whip!" As soon as Hasami got close enough, the Rattata leaped into the air, somersaulting above the bulbasaur and whipping her with it's tail while dodging the damage. It was clear that this duo had trained together, and Hotaru and Hasami's inexperience was evident. Frustrated, Hotaru yelled another command. "Taiatari!!" Turning around, the Bulbasaur rushed at the Rattata, trying to do what it failed at previously. However, it's trainer was too quick. "Tail Whip again!" Flipping itself over Hasami, it prepared to strike the Bulbasaur with it's tail once more. "Hayai! Hanabira no Mai!!" As the rodent passed over Bulbasaur's body, a cloud of pink petals shot from the bulb on it's back, disrupting the tail whip attack. The petals than began to swarm Rattata, dealing heavy damage to it's small form. Simply stepping out of the way, the Rattata fell to the ground, unable to continue. With a scowl, a red lazer beam shot from the boy's pokeball, forcing the Rattata to evacuate the field. "Yoku dekita Hasami. Kaerimanasai." With that, a red beam shot from her own Pokeball, withdrawing Hasami from combat. Picking another sphere from her belt, it was launched into the air, revealing a Staryu in a blast of pure white light. On the opponent's side, another Rattata appeared. "Are? Nihiki Korrata? Bonkura..." She muttered under her breathe. Quickly, she shouted a command to her Staryu. "Utsuwa! Katakunaru!" On her command, the starfish pokemon's body became rigid and began to reflect sunlight. Though most pokemon who used the "harden" ability lost mobility, Staryu's motions wernt based on flexibility, actually allowing some of it's attacks to gain power when used. "Utsuwa, Taiatari!" Leaping into the air, the sea star pokemon began to spin, whizzing through the air like a shuriken hurled by shinobi. Closing in on the Rattata, the pokemon was commanded by his owner to act. "Atta! Quick Attack!" With a sudden burst of speed, the Rattata leaped into the air, hoping that it's increased speed would allow it to overcome the Staryu's slower tackle attack. Though in most situations the novice trainer would have been correct, Staryu's heavier weight combined with its temporarily hardened form would be unphased by the quick attack and instead hit the Rattata dead on with it's full power. With the Ratatta unconcious, Hotaru would withdraw her pokemon, collect her prize money, and be on her way. [/font][/blockquote]

With nothing left binding her to the small Hamlet of Fairburn Town, the young heiress walked down the worn dirt path of Route 01 with her sights set on the looming forest that blocked the way from her position to Jade City. Her bag was restocked in case she got lost, and she had pleanty of pokeballs to use in case she encountered any Pokemon she would deem useful to her journey.
Coming up on the entrance, she prepared to re-enter the forest where she had gotten lost on her way to Fairburn. Hopefully it would be an easier trip this time around now that she had a few companions on her belt.

Wandering through the forest, vivid memories of hopelessness and desperation flooded back. The only thing positive about her previous adventure within the forest was that she didnt happen across another person who could witness her state of peril.
As she continued to wander, she kept her eyes peeled for any pokemon that might be worthy of joining her team. [/blockquote]

Level - 6
As you wander through the forest, a wild Oddish would come running across your path. Moving swiftly, it would try to hide in a bit of brush, using it's leaves to disguise it's self as best as possible. Being curious however it would occasionally peek it's head out to watch you.

A flash of blue topped with green caught her attention. Upon closer inspection, it was an Oddish making a mad dash for a cluster of brush, its blue body being swallowed by the tall leaves. Hotaru didn't know what to think about this incident. Did the oddish really think that she didn't see it run across her path? Scarlet optics remained fixed on the cluster of brush, and they were soon met by the red eyes of the pokemon's body, it's head peeking through the brush to inspect if Hotaru had left.
It was at that moment that Hotaru began to giggle uncontrollably. The curiosity of the Oddish had outweighed it's need for self preservation, something that most wild pokemon lacked. After her fit of laughter faded, the young heiress knelt to the ground and extended her hand.
"Come'ere. I'm not gonna hurt you."
At that moment, the Oddish popped its head back into the brush, attempting to hide from the mysterious intruder to the forest. After a few moments, the grass slowly parted again, revealing the Oddish's curious gaze again. With a look of amusement and confusion on her face, Hotaru reached into her pack and removed a few berries she had collected to feed her Pokemon with.
"I picked these earlier. You're welcome to them if you come out of there."
With her arms outstretched, she held the plump fruits at ground level, hoping to coax the pokemon out of hiding. It was clear that this small creature would't last long in the wild, and it would most likely be eaten by some bird type if it wasnt taken under her wing. Sprinting from the tall grass, the Oddish began to nibble on the food offered by Hotaru and the young woman scooped the Oddish up in her arms as she ate.
The wild pokemon didnt resist her embrace as she continued to eat, and the heiress reached to her belt and held a Pokeball to the oddish.
"Would you like to come with me? I can keep you safe and take you to some fun places."
Hotaru cooed, moving the ball right in front of the Oddish's body. Reaching it's head out, it pushed the button on the front of the ball and was quickly enveloped in a red light. The small pokemon promptly disappeared into the confines of the ball as it began to wiggle. Oddish's curiocity had gotten the better of her once again, but it was only a matter of time before she knew if the pokemon would join her on her journey.

And with that, the Oddish was captured.

Persisting on her journey, the young woman trudged deeper into the forest, hoping to make her way to the other side of it's wide expanse and maybe catch another pokemon on her way. Walking down the narrow path, her foot stepped on a dead branch which snapped under her weight, and a rustling from a nearby bush occurred immediately after. [/blockquote]

[ Pokemon Found: Roselia - Level 8 ]
Arising from the foilage, the Roselia sees the source of the sound, you. Feeling that its curiosity was fulfilled, it'd simply look at you while it rubbed its roses together.

Tossing a Pokeball from her belt onto the ground, she released her newly caught Oddish onto the field. "Rafflesia! Sweet Scent!" The oddish immediately began shaking its head, releasing a cloud of heady perfume into the air accompanied by tiny pink spores, tinting the air with their presence.
To Hotaru, the saccharine scent was almost nauseating, but to Pokemon in the forest, it was an intoxicating aroma that soothed their bodies and spirits. "Nice job, Rafflesia! Come on back!." With that, a red lazer beam shot from the ball's core, withdrawing the Pokemon back into it's confines. Another ball was thrown from her belt, this time revealing a bulbasaur.
"Hasami! Petal Dance!''
A pulse waved through the bulb on her back, expelling a plume of pink flower petals which wafted gently through the air. Suddenly, the petals began to spiral forward, contacting the intoxicated Roselia and sending it reeling backwards into a tree, dazing it and causing heavy damage.
An empty Pokeball was removed from her belt and was thrown at the Roselia, hoping to take advantage of the surprise attack.

With her belt weighted down with additional companions she gathered in the forest, Hotaru kept on the path as best she could, trying not to disturb any of the natural surroundings to avoid random pokemon encounters. Coming up on the exit to the forest, the young woman picked up her speed and made a break for Jade City, crossing the threshold from forest to civilization.

With a thirst for new companions, the young woman began her stroll back into the forest. Though she had sworn to not return for a long time, she knew that a variety of appealing pokemon resided in forest regions, and that this was the closest one for a long while. And so, with her fists clenched, the walked into the dark forest, hoping to be able to encounter some new Pokemon.
The shadows of the forest loomed over her, and soon she was swallowed up by the darkness forged by the massive trees.

A gentle breeze rusltled through the leaves above, however, the massive wooden barriers blocked any of the wind from reaching Hotaru. The leaves also kept the sun at bay, creating a cool climate despite the season.
Black leather shoes scratched along the dirt path as she made her way down a small trail in the forest. Not all paths through it lead to other cities. In fact, some residents of Jade City use some trails as hiking paths to get some excercise.
Keeping on the narrow path, she hoped that she could see some pokemon she could add to her collection.

- Level 8 It was during your walk across the path you would hear a faint rustling of the trees, although the noise would be coming from directly above. Hanging directly overhead, a seemingly angered Carnivine would open its mouth widely; declaring its displeasure with your presence. Although despite this, it does seem to be a bit hesitant. Will you attack, or attempt to retreat?

A sudden chill ran down Hotaru's spine as the leaves and branches above her moved uncharacteristically. Instead of a gentle rustle, a small bunch foliage began to shake, prompting the young girl to look up.
Glowing white eyes peered at her from the canopy, and Hotaru shrieked and quickly backed away from her current position. As she retreated, vines shot down from the branches and attempted to ensnare her.
Reaching to her belt, her hands wrapped around a pokeball which promptly enlarged to the size of a baseball in her hand. Tossing the sphere to the floor, a cascade of white light preceded her Bulbasaur's arrival to the battlefield.
"Hasami! Petal Dance! Knock it out of hiding!" With a "saur!" of obedience, the bulb on the pokemon's back pulsed, releasing a plume of pink flower petals that sailed through the air quickly towards their target. However, the branches above rustled violently, and the direction of the sound made it seem as if the target had escaped. Suddenly, the trees went silent.
Both trainer and pokemon remained on their toes, waiting for some indication of where the vine pokemon was hiding. Suddenly, vines shot down from the sky, wrapping themselves around the Bulbasaur in a "Bind" attack.
"Hasami!" Hotaru shrieked, watching helplessly as her companion was wrapped and lifted into the air. The novice trainer was stunned momentarily, forgetting that she could issue commands to Bulbasaur as she simply watched her companion struggle for survival.
A giant maw descended from the canopy and a single but long strand of saliva dripped from the attackers lips. "Hasami! Chomp down on the tenticles!" With the impromptu command issued, the bulbasaur began biting down on any of the vines near its mouth while Hotaru raised her Pokedex to scan the unknown attacker.
After the robotic voice displayed a name, picture, and flavor text, Hotaru was simply appalled. She thought that all grass types were cute and nice, but Carnivine had just shattered her theory completely. After a few seconds, enough of the vines had been severed by Bulbasaur's teeth, allowing the grass type to fall back to the ground, landing on her feet as she did so.
Her trainer's auburn optics examined the field quickly, and suddenly an idea popped into her head. "Hasami! Leech Seed! Straight into the air!" Once again, the bulb on the taimed pokemon pulsed, however, instead of releasing a flurry of pastel petals, a single, golfball sized seed shot from the opening, it's flightpath aimed right for the Carnivine's open mouth.
Sure enough, the seed struck home and promptly erupted into constrictive ivy which proceeded to zap the energy from it's body. Hopefully the Leech Seed was enough to knock out their attacker. [/blockquote]
